Sacred Healing Touch

I’m lying on a massage table in a treatment room. There’s a pillow supporting my knees. I’m draped with a quilt. Everywhere the eye turns there’s beauty – soft color on the walls, gentle art, nature treasures lovingly displayed. But my eyes are closed as the healer begins.

First, there’s a long, quiet pause as both of us settle, and sink. Then the healer’s voice, welcoming this good day, inviting protection and help. As she speaks to nature and spirit, I listen quietly to my body, noticing the layers of tension sifting away, moving into stillness, expectancy.

Now we’re in the body temple, fully attuned not just to the bundle of tissues that house me, but also to the unseen layers of my being.
Anything is possible.

This is a spiritual healing.
Inside its ceremonial container there’s an invitation to loosen knots, reactivate energy flow, receive blessings, and gain perspective.

Once in a while an intractable, long-standing problem melts quickly following a powerful insight or energy shift. More often, difficulties resolve themselves quietly and gradually in the days and weeks after a healing. A month later, I’ll suddenly remember experiencing strain, and notice that now it’s gone or diminished.

The body is many things. It’s the physical vessel that carries us through days and nights, a house for emotion, a vehicle for the enactment of dreams and visions. When it’s compromised, it’s a weight borne – patiently, or not. But at all times…

The body is the core of our earthly home.
It hosts our moments of pleasure, and our pain as well. Like houses and hearths, beds and bathtubs, our bodies surround us, protect us, provide for us, and do their best to create balance as the world undulates around us.
A spiritual healing opens the window,
letting out stale air, and welcoming in the energies of nature.
